Dear masters, teachers, practitioners and supporters,
I am pleased to inform you that the book "Histoire du Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao" (Tom I - from 1912 to 1975 in French) is available on Amazon.
This book represents the culmination of more than ten years of research and 10 months to translate it into French (nearly 300 color pages and 200 photos). It is also the fruit of close collaboration with many grand’s masters, masters, teachers, practitioners and supporters.
This book is primarily intended for masters, teachers, leaders and practitioners with responsibilities in Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao around the world. Of course, it is also open to all those who wish to know more about our discipline as well as its history.
Here is its content:
Chapter 1 is mainly devoted to the youth of the founding master, then to the official creation of Vovinam in 1938 as well as to the first demonstration in 1939 at the Grand Theater in Hanoi.
Chapter 2 traces a dark period in the history of Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao. It begins with the death of founding Master NGUYEN Loc (1960) and spans the four-year government ban of NGO Dinh Diem.
Chapter 3 is devoted to the flourishing period of Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao, marked by the creation of the initial foundations such as institutions, philosophy, the system of ranks, the educational program, uniforms, crest, etc.
Chapter 4 traces the period of meteoric expansion of Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao (1964-1975) within national education, in the police, the army, in the ministry of rural development and in various state bodies. This period also saw the emergence of a new generation of Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao masters, brightest men and women.
Chapter 5 is devoted to other more sectored historical elements, linked to Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao such as the origin of the various shields, the origin of the title of patriarch, the presentation of the thesis, the origins of the appellations "Vovinam" or "Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao" and the evolution of the organizational system from its creation to the present day.
Chapter 6 is exclusively devoted to the biography of the great masters who died, who worked for the development of Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao between 1938 and 1975.

This work is the 4th book in a series of Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao Technical documentation, based on the international training program. It aims to standardize on a global scale the three trainings (Song Luyen).
Song Luyen has many goals. The first is to help practitioners work at real speed, to perfect the basic techniques, the counterattacks, the dodges and blocks, the falls, the rolls, the locks and release techniques...
The second is to embed in the practitioner's indispensable abilities in martial arts, namely: quick reflexes, lightning attacks, precise dodging and blocking, good methods of executing falls and rolls, agility, endurance, steel mind, high concentration, ability to breathe steadily and snap observation.
In order to develop the above abilities, practitioners need to understand the correlation between the basic techniques, the counterattacking techniques, the “lock and release” techniques, the Quyen and the Song Luyen. This is the goal of the 4th Volume, intending to describe and explaining the first 3 Song Luyen of Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao.

The three basic Quyen of Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao
Quyen (拳) : Quyen is an integration of techniques that simulate an imaginary fighting scenario against one or more opponents, with the aim of achieving not only excellence in the basic techniques, but also seek to control your breathing and energy in order to achieve total self-control.
The Khai Mon Quyen (the Initiation gate form), the Thap Tu Quyen (the ten Sacred Letters form) and the Long Ho Quyen (the Dragon and the Tiger form), are Quyen who constitute the teaching of the primary level of Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao. Without knowing them deeply, it will be an insurmountable obstacle to access the master level.

This book is the 5th book in a series of Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao Technical documentation, based on the international training program. Its objectives are to support and strengthen technical standardization across the global, and preserve the authenticity and quality of the training program of Vovinam-VVD.
Knife counterattack techniques and traditional wrestling have a common denominator: close combat. If you can't approach the opponent, you can't counter the knife attack, and if you can't grab the opponent, you can't use Wrestling techniques either. Second common denominator: a real need in everyday life, especially in dangerous situations. It is for this reason that Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao believes that traditional wrestling and knife counterattack techniques are "necessary self-defense" techniques, and therefore, are taught from the blue belt level. The goal is to allow practitioners to be able to defend themselves effectively.
